One of our biggest goals is to increase the accessibility of a computer science education. As a result, our program is free of charge to participants, and we depend on sponsors to keep CS Kickstart possible. Without our sponsors, there would be no way we would be able to host so many students and provide an experience that will positively impact their pursuit of computer science, completely free of charge to eliminate any possible barriers.

When will CSK take place in 2025?Our week-long program will take place from 8/3/25 to 8/9/25.

Will CS Kickstart be held in person?Yes, the program has fully resumed its in-person scheduling and will take place at UC Berkeley this year. Participants will live in the dorms throughout the program.

When is the Industry Panel?The Industry Panel will take place during the week of CS Kickstart; as the date nears, we will get into contact with our sponsors and provide more logistics about the event. In 2022, this event was hosted at the UC Berkeley Faculty Club, followed by a catered meal where panelists could answer more questions and form connections with our participants.

As a Panelist, what should we expect from the Industry Panel?Ideally, we’d like our panelists to share what led them to the computer science field and to their particular position in the company they represent. Professional tips, life advice, and career interests are topics that are also encouraged. The CS Kickstart organizers will prepare questions about your professional and personal experiences and then the panel will be open to questions from student participants.

My company wants to send a panelist! What should I do next?Please let your CS KickStart contact know that your company is interested in sending a panelist. Know that spots on the industry panel are limited, and we generally give priority to our sponsors. Let us know how many representatives from your company are interested in coming and what their contact information is.

What does hosting a field trip for CS Kickstart entail?There are around 90 participants and 10 volunteers that come on the industry field trip located within the Bay Area. Some suggested field trip activities include giving short office tours, giving informal employee presentations, and providing mingling time for employees and CS Kickstarters. But feel free to have fun with it! CS Kickstart can help you work out a field trip schedule and organize transportation to your offices.

My company is interested in hosting a field trip! How do we get in on this?Thank you for your interest! Some years, more than one company will invite our group for a visit, therefore we ask that you double check that the date and times of the trip work for your company. Then, let us know about the location of your office, your goals with the field trip, and we will get back to you when we have finalized the trip’s location.
